The record for the coldest conditions in which Cale Pay and Display machines have continued to operate successfully was recently broken at the LEVI ski centre in the Finnish town of Kittilä, situated some 150 km north of the Arctic Circle in the region of Lapland.
The MP 104 machines are fitted with magnetic card readers, and are fundamentally identical to the MP 104 machines supplied to our other markets e.g. UK, Canada, Norway, Belgium and the Netherlands. The Finnish machines are additionally fitted with small electric heaters, to ensure reliable operation in the most severe of cold conditions.
The Cale machines in Kittilä withstood temperatures as low as minus 51.4 °C, as well as average daytime temperatures of below minus 15 °C during the winter months, with no degradation in performance.
