A second persistent criminal has been given a nation-wide car park ban in an attempt to end his 13-year reign of car crime.
With 27 convictions for 118 offences, including theft and dangerous driving, Geoffrey Hampshire, 29, was even convicted for stealing a car to drive to a meeting with his probation officer. The ban is part of an antisocial behaviour order, passed by Manchester City Council, which prevents him from acting in an antisocial manner across the country as well as banning him from entering any car park in England or Wales.
Described as the most prolific car thief in the Wythenshawe, Manchester area, Councillor Basil Curly added: "He is a thorough nuisance and a persistent offender and we intend to stop him in his tracks. The breach of an order carries a maximum sentence of 5-years in prison.
The judgement comes just weeks after a similar order was given by Wolverhampton City magistrates to 25-year old Mark Leo following a string of car crimes dating back to 1994.
