The implications of the newly-revised Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions will be discussed at an IHIE course on 29 April.
Improving your skills in Traffic Signing will guide delegates through the changes involved in the new regulations (TSRGD), which came into force in January this year.
‘The new regulations are evolutionary rather than revolutionary, but there are some significant changes,’ said Brian Lyus, Head of Traffic Signs in the Engineering Branch of DfL’s Traffic Management Division. ‘I think a lot of people have been waiting a long time for these changes, and are breathing a sigh of relief at their introduction.’
The new regulations have expanded the number of prescribed signs and markings from 776 to 862, clarifying many issues that have arisen since the last update in 1994. More flexibility has been introduced to permitted variants, giving local authorities more power to apply common sense in interpreting the regulations.
John Taylor, Director of Planning for Atkins, will chair the programme, and will talk about Location and Implementation. Other speakers include Brian Lyus, Brian Lord and Roger Mackintosh from DfT, and Simon Morgan from Buchanan Computing.
