A masked Englishman who calls himself Angle-Grinder Man is trawling London dressed as a superhero, complete with cape, removing the clamps from illegally parked cars.
Angle-Grinder Man, who takes his name from the saw he wields, has freed 20 cars. He says he can liberate one in less than a minute.
He does not accept money. Police are not amused. "Both Angle-Grinder Man and the vehicle owner could be charged with criminal damage," Scotland Yard said. Angle-Grinder Man told The New York Times he is unemployed and became an activist when his car was clamped. His Web site http://anglegrinderman.co.uk and hot line have drawn hoax messages, threats and fan notes.
