Edinburgh has become the first UK city to roll out a mobile phone payment system, with 266 Pay & Display terminals throughout the central zone CPZ equipped with technology from itsmobile enabling the on street machines to operate via the mPARK system.
The hi-tech system, the first of its kind in the UK, covers the areas between Haymarket Terrace to Holyrood Road and Moray Place to Melville Drive and utilises solar powered terminals recently installed by Schlumberger as part of a £1.3m contract with the council.
