The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) has commissioned WSP, TRL, Phil Jones Associates and David Lock Associates to develop guidance on the provision of car parking in new residential developments. Practitioners are being asked to contribute their views and experience via the project website.
The project website, www.ppg3parking.comgives details of the research and invites comments on the setting of appropriate levels, location and layout of residential parking that will inform the guidance. The research takes forward the Government commitment, in its Parliamentary Statement of 17 July, to consider how varying levels of car parking can be achieved whilst remaining consistent with PPG3's overarching objective of creating sustainable residential environments.
The research will provide detailed guidance to assist those taking decisions about how much parking is appropriate for different types of residential development in differing locations, whilst remaining mindful of PPG3's overarching objective of creating sustainable residential environments.
