Qingdao Qianwan International Logistics Park, the biggest in China, has begun operations.
A joint venture between Qingdao Jiayun Group, Shandong Kaifeng and Panama Shipping, the logistics park is about 500 metres from Qianwan Port, on a 66.7 hectare site with railway and road connections nearby. Services provided include logistics information, customs clearance, import and export cargo distribution, international forwarding, transportation, warehousing and third party logistic services.
Development work for the logistics park started in July last year, in order to cope with the development of Qingdao Port. According to Zhao Ying-chun, GM of Qingdao Jiayun Group, the park will increase transportation efficiency by 20% whilst reducing warehousing costs by 15%.
The park will add further facilities during the next five years in order to become the main logistics base and distribution centre for the northern part of China.
