Due to tightened security regulations following the 9/11 event, baggage at airports is not allowed to be stored in lockers any longer. Prior to storage it needs to be scanned and tagged, ideally the storage fee is to be paid in advance to a self-service payment terminal.
The Zeag Group proudly presents a simple but very effective solution, which automates the baggage tagging and fee payment process. The solution is based on the use of the renowned Zeag-Orion™ Parking Payment Station PK.
The passenger can select the storage time and pays in advance. The payment station accepts payment in coins, notes and cashless, e.g. credit/debit cards, stored value cards, electronic purse and voucher tickets. Change is given in coins and optionally in banknotes.
Upon full payment, the station provides the passenger with a claim ticket (magnetic stripe ticket in credit card size), a thermal paper receipt upon request and a self-adhesive label to tag the luggage.
The label, self-adhesive, must be removed from the backing film and wrapped around e.g. the handle of the baggage. The label carries all relevant payment information for later identification. Once the baggage is properly tagged, the passenger will then hand it over to a security person at the baggage counter for scanning and storing.
The baggage is only returned upon presentation of the claim ticket. The printed information on the claim ticket, the ID label and the receipt are identical to facilitate the identification and search process for the attendant. In the event that the storage time exceeds the time paid for, the claim ticket can be used for excess payment at the manned or automatic payment station.
The “Zeag-Orion™ baggage payment machine” can operate in standalone mode or on-line as part of the Zeag-ZMS™ Parking and Revenue Control System.
