Stelio terminals and the Parkfolio Neo software platform will facilitate on-street parking management and improve the quality of urban life for Munich’s residents.
Parkeon, the world’s leading provider of parking space management solutions, has won a contract to equip the City of Munich with 655 Stelio pay-and-display parking terminals.
"The City of Munich is willing to improve the quality of urban life and to facilitate individual mobility by means of flexible traffic control and parking systems. Parkeon was selected with a complete solution that will help implement and support this policy," explains Yves Chambeau, President of Parkeon. This contract win follows other major Parkeon wins in 2004 with the cities of Seattle, New Orleans and Madrid.
The P&D terminals in Munich will communicate via a wireless network with a central parking management platform also developed by Parkeon, named Parkfolio Neo.
Parkfolio Neo will give the City administration continual, real-time information on parking bays’ occupancy rates and the status of each terminal. Amongst other functions, the system is designed to monitor usage levels of parking spaces and vehicle turnover, and to adjust parking fees according to the demand.
If necessary, each terminal can also send electronic alarms to alert maintenance services of any malfunctions, or unusual usage or payment patterns.

In addition to the 655 new pay-and-display machines ordered by the City of Munich, the platform will integrate 220 pay-and-display machines of the same type that have already been in service since 2001. The new terminals will be installed in the districts of Lehel-centre, Lehel-north and Haidhausen by March 2005.
