Increasing sales of Pay & Display parking meters sees boost to customer support facilities
Parkeon, the world’s largest manufacturer of Pay & Display parking meters and systems, has opened a service center in Seattle to support its ever-expanding customer base from the coast to the mid-West.
"With major West Coast installations in Seattle and Portland, we have reached a critical point in our expansion program. Our service operation has been well managed 24/7 by central servers in NJ, but the time is right to enhance our ‘real-time’ support for the Western half of the country", commented Ken Greenwood, Marketing – North America at Parkeon.
The new facility is at 846 Industry Drive, Tukwila WA, and provides additional customer help lines plus servicing, spares and system commissioning facilities.
For customers wanting to contract-out routine maintenance and servicing of their Pay & Display parking meters, the unit has a back-up server running Parkeon’s Parkfolio™ Management software. This monitors terminals, via a wireless data network, to generate alarms and warnings whenever they need attention, e.g. if a machine is running low on tickets, a cash box needs emptying, or a thief or vandal has attempted to interfere with a terminal. Service personnel can then be directed to individual machines to ensure maximum up-times, thereby optimizing revenues and providing greater driver convenience.
Parkfolio Management will also generate extensive data on parking facility revenues and usage. These supply operators with detailed audits to check against cash collections and deter theft and fraud. The operational data, which will include information on parking times and periods, payment methods used, etc., can be transferred to a standard spreadsheet to help managers plan and develop their facilities, with the opportunity to pose "what-if" scenarios.
