BARKING, Havering and Redbridge (BHR) Hospitals NHS Trust is making more than £1million a year from its hospital car parks.
The trust earned the 14th highest amount from parking charges out of 146 trusts in England during 2004-05, and raised just under £1,200,000.
But it says the figure is only this high because it deals with more patients than many other trusts and adds that all the revenue is ploughed back into the cost of running the hospitals.
