Once Anglia Railways had decided to expand the car park at Ipswich Station. The 240 single surface car park that needed to be increased to cope with the 40% increase in passengers that the line has seen in resent years.
Anglia Railways need to double the car park capacity while intending to keep the car park customer friendly. This was to mark the beginning of a £50m investment spent.
The car park now has all the latest in technology and security with such features as heated ramps to all levels, customer help points and CCTV cameras strategically placed through out the car park.
The payment system of the car park was awarded to PES with a brief to insure that payment was as flexible as possible. This was achieved by providing cashiers and terminals that could accept cash, credit cards, season tickets and smart cards.
The car park, which is now open as received an awards, from The British Transport Police who found no difficulty awarding the Ipswich Station with a Secure Car Park Award.
The car park as also been nominated for the ‘Best New Parking Facility’ by the British Parking Awards 2002
