300 Vancouver parking lots now offer motorists the option to pay for parking using their mobile phone. The service eliminates the need for correct change; there is no fear of running out of time and ensures that you’ll never pay another parking violation or tow charge. First time users receive $5 off their parking.
Vancouver is the first city to bring this convenient and safe technology onto the parking lot. Seattle is scheduled to go live in April. The service provides a smarter, more flexible payment option; you pay the best-posted rate for the time you park with access to detailed, printable parking reports online.
Motorists calling a toll free number, punching in the lot number from the Verrus sign and starting the Virtual Parking Meter, even while walking down the street to your meeting, activate the service. Parking is valid until you return to your car and stop the service. The customer gets the best posted rate for the time parked; fees are billed to a credit card with no need to second guess how many tickets to buy. The service is also available by micro browser on browser enabled phones and costs 25c per parking transaction.
“Our goal is to improve the parking experience for consumers. Our service is faster than the alternative and consumers no longer need to panhandle for correct change or even guess the length of their parking stay.” states Desmond Griffin, President, Verrus Inc.
