The final stage of the Public Private Partnership investment programme to improve the Tube was completed today.
Earlier this afternoon, the private sector consortia, Metronet - led by Atkins, Balfour Beatty, Bombardier, SEEBOARD and Thames Water – signed a 30-year-deal with London Underground for the maintenance and upgrade of two major sections of the Tube; the Bakerloo, Central, Victoria and Waterloo & City lines (BCV) and the Sub Surface lines (SSL).
The work begins immediately with more than £2.5 million a day being invested into this major part of the network.
