Ascom Network Integration Italy will provide IP connectivity to the main power distribution stations of the Italian utility company ENEL.
Ascom Network Integration Italy has been awarded by Wind Telecommunicazioni S.p.A. the “Telecontrollo IP Network Project” used to provide IP connectivity to the main power distribution stations used by ENEL (national utility company) to distribute power to last mile end users. Wind has been appointed by ENEL to provide a fully outsourced solution on that matter.
The contract is worth EUR 8 million (approx. CHF 12.4 million) including 40 POP's and 2200 routers and access switches and will be deployed in a two years time frame.
The remote control network is used to detect and monitor information about the status of electrical parameters – voltage, power, status – on the main power distribution stations. Through this network the Enel operation control center will be able to detect any possible mismatch on these measures and take any possible corrective actions.
This success confirms the leadership of Ascom Network Integration Italy with Cisco technology in the Italian market and consolidates the company’s close relationship with Wind.
