With "Many Happy Returns," adults travel at a 30 percent discount while kids 2 to 15 go along at half price.
Students planning a week on the beach for Spring Break may travel for even less as the "Many Happy Returns" discount can be combined with the existing Student Advantage discount available to program members. Veterans Advantage members are also eligible to combine the discounts.

"Many Happy Returns" is perfect for families travelling together as they will enjoy even greater savings. On Amtrak, up to two children may accompany each adult at 50 percent off the full fare. Toddlers younger than two travel for free. That means for families, two adults may travel at the special 30 percent off fare with up to four children ages 2 to 15 travelling at half price.
Amtrak’s "Many Happy Returns" promotion is available for purchase through May 19, 2002 for travel through June 15, 2002. "Many Happy Returns" is even available to groups travelling together.
Guests may enjoy "Many Happy Returns" on board Amtrak to warm Spring Break destinations from Florida to California. The discount is available on the Southwest Chief (Chicago – Los Angeles), the Coast Starlight (Seattle – Los Angeles), the Texas Eagle (Chicago – San Antonio – Los Angeles), and Amtrak’s Silver service (New York – Orlando/Miami/Tampa), to name a few. The promotion is not available on Acela Express, Metroliner, and Auto Train services.
Reservations are required at least seven days prior to departure, and tickets must be purchased within three days of making a reservation. Tickets are non-refundable once purchased. Other restrictions and blackout dates do apply.
Once a reservation is made, guests may pick up their tickets at any staffed Amtrak station or have their tickets sent by mail. Guests may also contact their local travel agent for assistance in ticketing a reservation.
