Sainsbury’s appoints new property director

J Sainsbury plc announced today the appointment of Desmond Taljaard as Property Director of Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Limited (SSL) and as a member of the SSL board.

Desmond joins the company on 7 May from Hilton Group plc (formerly Ladbroke Group plc) where he is Senior Vice President, Real Estate and a member of the Hilton International board. Prior to this, Desmond worked for Ladbroke Group plc as President and CEO of US Real Estate.

Peter Davis, Group Chief Executive said, “I am delighted to welcome Desmond to Sainsbury’s where his previous expertise in a customer focused environment will be of immense value to us as we continue to develop our variety of store formats and our property portfolio valued in excess of £4.5billion.”
