Citigroup will again be included on both the Dow Jones Sustainability World Indexes (DJSI World) and the FTSE Group’s FTSE4Good index series for 2004.

Inclusion on these indexes recognizes Citigroup as being a leader in setting standards in corporate sustainability and in demonstrating superior environmental, social and economic performance.

“We are committed to being an exemplary corporate citizen and we are very proud to maintain our position on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and on the FTSE4Good index, “ said Sanford I. Weill, Citigroup chairman and chief executive officer. “We are particularly pleased that Dow Jones and FTSE4Good recognize our commitment not only to our shareholders but also to the markets in which we operate and to the environment.”

Companies included on the DJSI World are recognized as being the top 10% in corporate sustainability. Citigroup’s total company score on this index family was 56%, only 1% below the highest company score of 57% and well-above the average of 36%. DJSI evaluates areas such as corporate governance, codes of conduct, environmental policies and reporting, talent attraction and retention, and stakeholder engagement. It is the first index family tracking the performance of sustainability-driven companies representing 62 industries worldwide.

For inclusion in the FTSE4Good index series, Citigroup met specific criteria relating to environmental sustainability, good corporate citizenship, shareholder relations and support of human rights. Jointly owned by the London Stock Exchange and the Financial Times and operated as a wholly autonomous company, FTSE is a world leader in the creation and management of equity indexes that are used by investors for investment analysis, performance measurement, and asset location.
