Emerging telecoms markets set to boost billing investment

Source:http://www.chorleywood.com, Source date:

As many of the world’s earlier adopter markets reach mobile saturation, the industry is now looking to emerging countries to fuel further growth. Countries which previously were considered to be ‘undeveloped’ in respect to telecoms have opened up both to new technologies and regulatory liberalisation.

The latest report from Chorleywood, COMPETITOR ANALYSIS OF THE TOP GLOBAL BCC VENDORS - EVALUATING STRENGTHS IN DEVELOPED AND EMERGING MARKETS, notes that these emerging markets will remain key regions of growth. And as operators in these countries launch new services, each will need new billing and customer care support infrastructure to support this.

“Looking at where the growth has come from in terms of sales for BCC solutions (see chart below) we see that it is clearly rooted in the emerging markets,” says Andy Bairsto, principal analyst at Chorleywood and author of the report. “Indeed, where contract announcements have dropped off in North America and Western Europe (a fall of 27% between 2001 and 2003) total contract announcements in the emerging markets have increased and in fact increased by the same percentage in that same two-year period.”

The response from vendors to this shift in geographic demand has obviously been to try and get a stronger foothold in some of those markets. Historically, many of the big vendors have not always been best suited to the unique demands of some of these markets, but they cannot afford to overlook the potential business now offered. Chorleywood research shows that the market to supply BCC remains wide open and that no single vendor has dominance in the emerging regions.

This latest report from Chorleywood provides an informative profile, accompanied by data and statistical evidence, on each of the global top vendors in the Billing and Customer Care (BCC) domain, plus their position and strategy in the emerging markets. It also examines, at a high-level, regional players who are particularly strong in the growth regions.

Focusing on BCC for telephony solutions – fixed-line, mobile and IP – the main part of the report aims to provide operators and investors with an overview of each company including: financial data, product and service information, its partner relationships, and information about its global presence.
