Willebroek has a fast connection to the major highways and the ring around Brussels, and, the adjacent sea canal makes it possible to link domestic shipping into the logistics concepts. A railroad connection is also possible. Equipped with the most up-to-date information and communication technology, the Willebroek facility offers a particularly high degree of flexibility in the handling of foodstuffs that may not be stored together with other goods. According to Rude Debras, managing director of Schenker’s Belgian company, Schenker N.V, the rapid distribution of consumer goods, especially from the foodstuffs sector, has been part of the company’s core logistics business in Belgium for a long time. He added that Schenker has established a reputation within the industry for reliable and punctual delivery, and its employees have, over the years, developed special expertise in the safe handling of foodstuffs. In other news, for the fourth consecutive year, Schenker Australia has been selected as the official logistics provider and the exclusive on-site handling agent for CeBIT Australia. Ron Koehler, managing director of Schenker Australia, said: “In Australia we have a very experienced events team organising more than fifty events every year in Australia alone. Their experience ranges from the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games to the Australian International Airshow in Avalon, Victoria.” For CeBIT Australia 2005 exhibitors, Schenker offers door-to-door logistics solutions for all freight ranging from exhibits to stand building material from the point of origin up to the timely delivery at the show site. Schenker also organises storage of empties and customs clearance formalities. Jackie Taranto, managing director of CeBIT Australia, said: “In its fourth year, CeBIT Australia 2005 will attract 600 exhibitors, including 120 from 21 overseas countries. We need a sophisticated and experience partner like Schenker to guarantee our customer’s high quality service in event logistics."
