9/1/2005 J Sainsbury Plc annouces management change Source:http://www.jsainsbury.com, Source date: Sainsbury’s today announces that Roger Burnley (39) will join Sainsbury’s operating board as supply chain director, to replace Lawrence Christensen. Roger joins the company from Matalan where he is currently supply chain director. He spent his early career in retail management and buying at B&Q before joining Asda/Walmart, where he held a number of positions before becoming supply chain director in 2001. Roger’s starting date will be confirmed shortly. Roger will initially work alongside current supply chain director, Lawrence Christensen to ensure an orderly handover of responsibilities. Lawrence initially joined Sainsbury’s in September 2004 for a set term of 16 months, however, this has been extended and he will continue to support the management team in an advisory capacity until December 2006. Sainsbury’s chief executive, Justin King, said: “Lawrence has been an integral part of the team and has made a massive contribution to improving our supply chain and the service we provide our customers. I am delighted that he has agreed to stay on and support the business through the next year. “We look forward to Roger’s arrival. His extensive retail and logistics experience and track record of delivering results will be a great addition to the management team.” Enquiries:
