10/1/2005 Sony Europe outsources spare parts warehousing to DHL Source:http://www.eyefortransport.com, Source date: DHL Solutions is to take over Sony’s warehouse activities at the World Repair Parts Centre Europe in Londerzeel, Belgium. The three-year contract will be carried out in three project phases: The management and 41 employees at the 10,000 m2 Sony warehouse in Londerzeel was taken over by DHL Solutions in May. This is a pure pick and pack operation, which includes stock management and reverse logistics. The second phase is the takeover of the operational inbound and outbound flow of goods. The third phase will involve producing a process analysis in conjunction with Sony. Possibilities for improvements to the current process will also be considered.
Ronny Lombaerts, managing director of Sony Service Centre (Europe), said: “We are continually looking for large-scale, experienced, scaleable and reliable logistics companies that are willing to help us think over our procedures and, in addition, know the European consumer market well. We think that in choosing DHL and its knowledge of warehousing spare parts and after sales logistics, we have made a good decision.”
