12/1/2005 New contracts for Wincanton, Schneider and GeoLogistics Source:http://www.eyefortransport.com, Source date: Wincanton has secured a contract with Miller Brands UK, Schneider Logistics has been appointed LLP for Danone Waters in the UK, and Cadbury Schweppes has selected GeoLogistics for single-source Americas agreement. Wincanton has secured a three-year warehousing and distribution contract with Miller Brands UK. The contract will be based at Wincanton's shared user operations in Lutterworth and Mossend, and will involve the clearance of inbound supplies from the Czech Republic, Italy and South Africa, along with managing outbound deliveries of bottled products and kegs to retail and wholesale customers around the UK. Initially, Wincanton will be managing approximately 427,000 hectolitres of Miller Brands product, with stock holding peaking over the festive period. Wincanton will also provide value-adding supply-chain services including electronic order-processing and warehousing and excise duty management for all beer and POS materials. Danone Waters UK & Ireland has appointed Schneider Logistics as its lead logistics provider for all UK movements of its bottled waters. Danone Waters supplies more than 450 thousand tons of bottle water per year to the UK's top supermarkets and other retail outlets. Under the contract, Schneider Logistics will be responsible for delivery to customers from Danone Water's warehouses, selecting and managing haulers, and auditing and paying freight invoices. Additionally, Schneider Logistics will provide dynamic web-enabled reporting tools to measure KPIs. Shipments from Danone Waters' factory near Swansea are included in the remit, as are reverse logistics movements. GeoLogistics Corp has appointed as Cadbury Schweppes’ ocean export freight services provider for the Americas region. GeoLogistics is responsible for the shipment of both ingredients and finished products within the region and exported from the Americas. It is estimated that over half of Cadbury Schweppes' worldwide shipping volume is conducted in the Americas region. Focused heavily on full-container load ocean shipments, the agreement makes GeoLogistics responsible for managing all transport and customs clearance requirements, door-to-door from supplier to plants, warehouses and distribution centres. The alliance also includes less-than-container loads and airfreight services exported from Cadbury's Americas' facilities.
The agreement covers multiple North, Central and South America trade lanes linked to, among others, Baltimore, Chicago, Cleveland, Miami, New York and Toronto. Cadbury Schweppes' major South America facilities are located in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.
