Wincanton has been awarded the contract to provide logistics operations to European mail order group, SERPIE.

One of SERPIE group’s mail order brands is Homme Moderne, which was established in France, Germany, Spain, Belgium and the UK, and has an annual catalogue distribution of more than twenty million and a European customer base of more than two million.

Wincanton will double parcel handling capacity and manage all B2C services including order preparation and billing. B2B activities will also be provided from the company’s European operations base at Melun. Wincanton will also deal with all returned goods from customers and retailers.

Wincanton’s IT system is a real global solutions provider capable of optimising the existing potential of operators and machinery in response to SERPIE’s daily orders quota. Production capacity is now between 2,000 and 3,000 parcels per hour.

Fiona Durousseaud, managing director for Wincanton France, said that all SERPIE’s national and international logistics operations will be managed from a single location. “The technology we have put in place is flexible and allows us to respond to peaks in demand and seasonality.”

According to SERPIE’s managing director Ralf Haasler, Wincanton has produced a comprehensive, tailor-made program that covers every aspect of SERPIE’s mail-order business
