Atlanta-based Manhattan Associates, Inc., has deployed its execution solution, PkMS, at Perry Ellis International's newly acquired Jantzen Inc. distribution center. The implementation at Jantzen's 300,000 square-foot DC in Seneca, S.C., was completed on time in two and a half months and under budget. It will enable Perry Ellis International (PEI) to manage its future distribution needs as it continues to grow.

When Perry Ellis acquired Jantzen in March, Jantzen was operating with in-house mainframes and a legacy warehouse management system. Perry Ellis' access to these systems would cease on June 30. As a result, the company had a very short timeframe in which to replace all of Jantzen's business systems including the installation of a new ERP and supply chain execution solution. From its Seneca facility, Jantzen ships swimwear to 10,500 retailer doors in the United States, Canada and Europe.

Upon acquiring Jantzen, Perry Ellis selected Manhattan Associates based on its previous success with the company's execution solution.

"With an 11-year history of serving the retail and apparel industries and a solution with which we are very familiar, we knew the Manhattan Associates team was the right partner for this project," commented Glenn Shapanka, vice president of logistics systems for Perry Ellis International. "Taking the Jantzen facility through a complete business transformation in two and a half month's time with virtually no interruption of day-to-day business was a huge undertaking. The solution's flexibility and scalability made the rollout at our newest facility a very successful project and because of its upgrade path, the solution is a good fit for us now and into the future."

Manhattan Associates' execution solution will enable the company to more effectively manage and streamline its order fulfilment and invoicing processes. In addition, the company will gain the scalability it was lacking to efficiently handle order fulfilment for its growing product lines. PkMS' flexibility also will enable Jantzen to reduce its order fulfilment times.

Included in the implementation of Manhattan Associates' execution solution was SystemLink, the company's integration tool. SystemLink, a component of Manhattan Associates' MA Connect solutions suite, was selected by Perry Ellis to facilitate the interface between PkMS and the company's new ERP system from Essentus.
