The Authority has placed advertisements in a number of key publications in the UK and in Europe seeking expressions of interest. The next stage of the process will be the announcement later this year of the successful pre-qualified parties.

The specification for the new franchise will reflect the requirements of the Scottish Executive and Strathclyde Passenger Transport Executive (SPTE). These seek to achieve improved rail passenger services in Scotland, as well as contributing to the objectives set out in the SRA's Strategic Plan.
