New statistics show that an average 81 out of 100 bus users in England are satisfied with their journey. This figure rose to 82 per cent in the Shire areas outside London, and 83 per cent in Metropolitan areas.

The figures are from the latest issue of the Bus Quality Indicators Bulletin. Other statistics from the Bulletin show:

  • Londoners are more pleased with information at the bus stop with a 72 per cent approval rating compared with 62 per cent for England as a whole;

Based on Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) figures, the average age of the bus and coach fleet was 8.4 years at the end of June 2002, unchanged from the previous quarter.
