The Award, Sponsored by National Grid Transco, went to Sainsbury’s as the organisation that best demonstrated a company wide commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).The panel were looking for evidence of a clearly articulated and widely communicated policy embedded in the company’s business strategy, together with examples of policies and projects that positively impacted on the local community.
The team were up against strong competition from Unilever and Tesco to win the prize.However the judges were impressed with Sainsbury’s work to benefit consumers, colleagues, suppliers, shareholders, communities and the environment and in particular praised the success in embedding CSR across the whole company.
