The Index is a business-led, voluntary means to publicly benchmark responsible
business practice across a range of companies in different industry sectors.
The Corporate Responsibility Index is the first index that measures the impact
businesses have on the staff they employ, the societies in which they operate
and on the environment. This year’s results have revealed that the Food and
Drug Retailers have remained on top, closely followed by the Utilities sector.
Jan Shawe, Sainsbury’s Director of Corporate Affairs, says:
“This is a tremendous achievement for Sainsbury’s, and is a further testament
to Sainsbury’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility”.
