Finland's Luottokunta and OKO Bank are set to roll out the Verified by Visa program to over 700,000 of the bank's online customers, making Finland the first country begin a mass implementation.
Luottokunta's digital POS devices will support Visa 3-D Secure technology enabling its existing 420 online merchants to accept authenticated secure payments with Verified by Visa, whilst OKO will roll-out the service to its customers in the second quarter this year.
Visa EU's Kurt Andersen said: "This is quite an achievement for Finland to be the first country in Europe to have its leading banks choose Visa's 3-D Secure technology as the best way to provide consumers and merchants with the confidence they need to shop online safely and conveniently."
