A new UK-based independent transport and logistics company has been established to devise innovative solutions to help clients gain efficiencies and reduce transport costs.
The three principals of BurHill Logistics - Peter Hill, Richard Burgess and Oliver Magnus - together bring nearly 50 years of transport experience across all modes and regions.
"We will initially focus on the major deep sea trades - particularly areas where we foresee growth. As an active NVOCC representative, we will provide customs clearance services, warehousing and inventory control, packing, UK distribution, marine insurance and groupage consolidation facilities," said Peter Hill.
"BurHill Logistics has experience across all transport modes and the ability to take control of the whole transport chain for the benefit of our clients."
Mr Hill helped form the company after 25 years in senior roles with major containership operators Contship Containerlines and CP Ships.
Richard Burgess has a background of 10 years in international transport including two years based in the changing and complex markets of Asia.
Oliver Magnus joins the company from the Magnus Group and has 11 years experience in the transport, warehousing, distribution and customs sectors, as well as UK import and export agency activities.
"For UK shippers, we will be providing seafreight services on the major routes - to and from the Far East, Indian sub-continent, North Atlantic and Australia/New Zealand. Within the UK, we will provide nationwide road and rail distribution, including services in Scotland," Mr Hill said.
"We will look to develop connections for groupage services throughout Europe, Scandinavia and the Baltic States.
"We feel there is room for a service provider to think round the problems companies will face increasingly as traffic grows by a predicted 8-10 per cent in the next few years."
