Mountainview Food Distributors’ route personnel will deliver snack foods to each store location using Blue Dot's mNOW! Direct Store Delivery software running on Intermec 700 Series mobile computers to ensure accurate and efficient delivery. Each product will be scanned, quantities will be tracked for store acceptance, and information uploaded via DEX communications. Upon order completion, Mountainview's drivers will print a customer receipt via wireless communication with an O'Neil full-page mobile printer.
Blue Dot's mNOW! Inventory Management module and mNOW Middleware will work in conjunction with Intermec hand-held computers and 802.11b wireless networking to automate warehouse operations and integrate collected data into Mountainview's enterprise QuickBooks accounting system.
"The new system will enable Mountainview to expand its current product lines to include even a broader scope of snack food lines, while providing us the ability to track and report on all of our current product lines with automated speed and accuracy," said Mountainview President Bill Krauth. "We selected Intermec and Blue Dot because of the combination of leading technology and their ability to deliver a complete integrated solution. We believe Blue Dot's expertise in providing integrated mobile product solutions, including Intermec mobile computing hardware, implementation services and support, will provide our company with the key components for success on this project."
When finished with deliveries for the day, Mountainview drivers will synchronize data to Blue Dot's mNOW! Middleware, which manages all communication between the mobile computers, via the Internet, dial-up, or in-premise Ethernet, and acts as the central point for integration into Mountainview's enterprise QuickBooks for accounting and warehouse inventory functions.
The mNOW! Middleware will be hosted by Blue Dot Solutions, and will provide Mountainview the ability to view route information anywhere at any time.
