Intermec Technologies has partnered with Funk Software and Fortress Technologies to secure its wireless devices.
Fortress Technologies' wireless security gateway, secure client software and access control server now support Intermec's CN2 and CK30 mobile computers and CV60 rugged vehicle mount terminals. Intermec will also offer Fortress software through its Independent Software Vendor (ISV) partner program.
Customers can implement the Fortress AF2100 wireless security gateway to protect communication between Intermec wireless computers, users and the company's network infrastructure. Intermec also will offer the Fortress Access Server Control (ACS), a scalable management and policy control platform for securing wireless applications and devices.
"Fortress is confident that Intermec customers will reap significant benefits from the addition of our security solutions - from increased wireless throughput to protection of present and future generations of wireless technology," said John Dow, vice president, business development at Fortress Technologies.
Intermec will also offer Funk Software's Odyssey Client and Server and Steel-Belted Radius security suite through the ISV program.
Odyssey Client software is available for Intermec's 700 Color series of hand-held devices, as well as the CK30 and CV60 computers. Odyssey Client permits a secure connection to 802.1x-based WLAN and wired networks and supports multiple 802.1x security types over all platforms.
"Our RADIUS servers Odyssey Server and Steel-Belted Radius meet the access control and policy-enforcement requirements of enterprises small and large," said Funk Software vice president Joe Ryan. "Odyssey Client software is easily deployed and maintained across all client devices and allows companies to quickly deploy secure WLAN access to all their users.
