ABgene, a provider of molecular biology reagents, plastic consumables, and instrumentation, has announced the 2DCYPHER SmartScan reader for 2D bar coded sample tracking.
The reader was created for the company's 2DCYPHER coded cluster tube racks. It can scan and decode 96 tubes in less than 20 seconds. Its small footprint and low profile (820 grams; 265x175x36mm) make it suitable for integration onto the deck of liquid-handling robots.
SmartScan can be used for high-throughput screening and university research. The reader is available as a portable version (battery or USB-powered), or as the SmartScan+ for robotic integration. Both versions are compatible with Windows(R) 2000 and XP, enabling data export to .xls and .csv file formats. Scan results can also be stored on portable media
