Exel has been awarded an 18-month contract with sourcing and supply specialist, RDi International, to provide port to site transport, warehousing and distribution of houseware, hardware, electrical and automotive products to Rdi’s UK-based retail customers.
Operating from Exel's 650,000 sq.ft site in Stanton, Suffolk, Exel will handle approximately 200 pallets per week. Specific services will include provision of port to site transport for inbound containers, stock management, order picking and dispatch, co-packing and outbound distribution to UK customers. Some orders will also require picking and packing into display units in readiness for retailer in-store displays.
According to Guy Elliott, UK managing director for Exel's consumer & food retail business, Exel’s Stanton site is well equipped to handle imported stock from the Far East and distribute to retail and wholesale outlets across the UK.
RDi’s logistics manager, Jon Godefroy, said: “As our business continues to grow, we have a requirement for the management of the growing quantity of inbound stock we ship from the Far East to Felixstowe. With its ideally-located site in Stanton, Suffolk and innovative approach to supply chain solutions, Exel will become our supply chain partner of choice.”
