Velocity Express Corp and Greyhound PackageXpress (GPX) have signed an agreement to provide time sensitive door-to-door package delivery between key metropolitan areas.
Metro-to-Metro Guaranteed Package Delivery Today will leverage Greyhound’s round-the-clock schedule of frequent intercity departures and available cargo space on each bus with Velocity's comprehensive 24-hour, door-to-door pick up and delivery capabilities.
Metro-To-Metro Today Delivery guarantees door-to-door pick up and delivery within ten hours, while Metro-To-Metro Sunrise Delivery guarantees overnight service with delivery as early as 06h30. Both services are value-priced and will allow users to save up to 50% on shipping costs.
The comprehensive schedules of both companies allow users significant flexibility with late evening pickups while making early morning deliveries.
“This is the new concept of package delivery,” said Vincent Wasik, CEO, Velocity. “It uses the successful low cost airlines strategy of picking key city pairs, with strong demand. That permits high productivity levels, which drive down costs and permit exceptional pricing and service. Our focus will be on city pairs generally within 300 miles of each other.”
Greyhound’s executive vice president, Jack Haugsland, uses New York – Boston as an example of high service frequency (more than 50 departures every day). “This gives customers the flexibility to ship when they want at an affordable price. Velocity also has an established shipping partner in GPX, as we've been delivering packages for more than 90 years.”
The services begin immediately with the following city pairs: New York City – Boston; New York City – Philadelphia; Dallas – Houston. Additional city pairs will be added in the coming months.
