TNT Logistics has signed a contract with GE Plastics in Brazil; Wincanton has taken over the national distribution for Würth Industrie Service; and Kuehne + Nagel in China has been selected as one of Schindler Group’s strategic logistics providers.
TNT Logistics Brazil has signed an agreement with GE Plastics, and is now responsible for the client’s material handling activities: receiving, checking, warehousing, line feeding, dispatching and invoicing in Brazil.
GE Plastics’ plant in Campinas, in the São Paulo region, manufactures hi-tech engineering plastics, plastics sheets for civil construction and thermoplastic resin, used in the production of automotive parts, medical products, among others.
The ten warehouses now under TNT Logistics' responsibility have a total size of 15,000 m2. The TNT Logistics team manages a volume of approximately 3,500 tons per month, from the receiving of raw material to the dispatching of the finished products.
Wincanton has successfully qualified as national distribution partner for Würth Industrie Service, Bad Mergentheim, Germany, with Würth having extended its contract with Wincanton for the management of the final distribution of the Würth products via its own German distribution network.
The products will be fed into the network via the Wincanton logistics terminal in Heilbronn.
Würth’s requirements include the time sensitive "Kanban" business as well as return management of empty load carrying equipment to strictly defined timescales.
Escalator and elevator company, Schindler Group, has selected Kuehne + Nagel in China as one of its strategic logistics providers. The new five-year agreement significantly extends the scope and depth of the existing business relationship between the two companies.
Having provided international end-to-end sea and airfreight transport for Schindler from production facilities in Europe and China to destinations throughout the Asia Pacific region since 2003, K+N now also provides sophisticated logistics services for Schindler’s suppliers and factories, including customs brokerage, warehousing and distribution.
K+N ensures that consignments from different sources are optimally coordinated and consolidated for efficient JIT delivery to identified destinations. In addition to the Asia Pacific region, this logistics support for Schindler is now extended to projects in the Middle East, Africa, the Americas and Russia.
Elevator and escalator equipment is often bulky and technically sensitive, requiring extensive industrial sector expertise on the part of the logistics provider as well as a high degree of flexibility in view of the changing installation sites and transport requirements.
