Schneider National has announced that Scott Arves, the company’s president of transportation, has resigned. Mark Rourke, currently general manager of transportation management, has been named president of Truckload, while Bill Matheson (vice president & general manager of Intermodal) will now act as president of Intermodal.
Kuehne+Nagel has announced that Hans-Georg Brinkmann will take over as managing director, effective July 1, 2006. Brinkmann will also assume responsibility for the Central Europe Region comprising Germany and Switzerland. He succeeds Ewald Kaiser, who is moving to the company’s corporate HQ in Schindellegi, Switzerland, where he will fully focus on his responsibilities as chief operating officer of Rail & Road Logistics.
Mallory Alexander International Logistics has named Cathy Spencer general manager of the Northern Plains Commerce Centre, which is being managed by Mallory Alexander for the City of Bismarck, North Dakota. Ms Spence, a licensed customs broker, spent seven years with A W Fenton (now part of Exel), followed by appointments at Tech International, Honda Trading America and, later, was a logistics consultant for Kadrmas, Lee & Jackson.
The The FTA has announced the appointment of two new vice presidents to support FTA president John Russell.

Rebecca Jenkins has been managing director of the Bristol-based Lane Group since 1989, and joined the FTA national executive board in April 2003. She is a board member of Skills for Logistics.

Andy Haines is head of logistics for Tate & Lyle Sugars Europe. He joined United Molasses in 1979, and in 1991 moved to United Storage as managing director. He became chairman of the Tank Storage Association, representing UK storage interests to government and industry. He joined the FTA national executive board in April 2004.
Swissport International has announced that Nigel Daniel, currently executive vice president of ground handling, Europe, Asia, the Middle East & Africa, is leaving the company with immediate effect. Urs Sieber, currently executive vice president of ground handling, Switzerland & Germany, is to assume responsibility for a combined "Ground Handling Worldwide (except the Americas)" division.

AMB Property Corp has appointed ocean freight and 3PL veteran Anthony Chiarello as senior vice president of customer development, effective July 1, 2006. Chiarello most recently served as president of Hudd Distribution Services, a Maersk Logistics company. Prior to this, he served as president of Maersk Logistics USA, president of Maersk Equipment Service Co, director for the Mid-Atlantic and South Atlantic regions for Universal Maritime Service Corp, and deputy executive director of the Maryland Port Administration.
Chiarello is an associate member of the operations committee of The American Association of Port Authorities and has served as its chairman. He is also on the steering committee of the Terminal Management Training Program.
US Lines (USL) has announced the top executive teams to head its operations in Australia and New Zealand under the overall control of the vice president of Australasia, Noel Coom.
Jointly heading the team in Australia will be Rolf Rasmussen as director of sales & marketing, and Adrian Butler as commercial manager.
Rasmussen was most recently national sales director for CP Ships and its brands in Australasia (ANZDL, Contship Containerlines and Lykes Lines). Butler has spent more than 15 years at CP Ships, most recently as trade director overseeing commercial activities from Oceania into North America.

Alexander Haex will become head of the Bulk Goods & Shipping dept. Mr Haex used to work for Vopak in China and is currently responsible for the commercial success of the port of Sohar in Oman

Remi van Kleef, who has already worked for the Port Authority for three years, has been appointed head of marketing
Con-way has announced that Thomas Nightingale has joined the company as vice president of communications & chief marketing officer. He joins Con-way from Schneider National, where he has been vice president of corporate marketing since 2002. Prior to Schneider, he held senior positions at Clareon, Paxis, CSX Transportation and UPS.
BDP International has announced that Richard Bolte Sr, the company chairman & CEO, passed away on July 5th, just a month before the 40th anniversary of the company he founded.
Bolte was an early adopter of information technology for managing and organising international freight movements and other aspects of global shippers' supply chains. With nearly 2,000 employees and operations in 113 countries, BDP today attributes much of its success to Bolte's penchant for zealous customer care and the introduction of information-based solutions to the complex logistics and documentation needs of customers beginning in the 1970's.
In May this year, the Chemical Heritage Foundation presented Bolte with its first award for supporting industries, citing his contribution to effectively extending the reach of the industry's supply chains during a period of business globalisation.
