Sainsbury’s has chosen Allport to support a direct sourcing initiative for its adultwear clothing. Allport will track and manage freight from fifteen origins – ranging from Turkey to China.
Branded under the name of TU Clothing, the consignments transported by sea, air and road will be tracked and managed by Allport.
Darren Palfrey, senior client manager for supply chain, believes that direct sourcing will help Sainsbury's to expand its clothing business.
“We're encouraging buyers to directly source as much product as possible, as it increases visibility of supply chain costs and allows us to effectively plan cargo consolidation, both of which can improve margin.”
Allport's LIMA system will provide supply chain visibility and control to TU buyers and merchandisers, enabling them to make key decisions to support business growth
