Intermec has been selected to supply RFID hardware to Microsoft Technology Centres throughout the US, partly largely due to the interoperability of Intermec RFID technology with the Microsoft BizTalk RFID platform.
The Technology Centres enable companies and independent software vendor (ISV) customers to envision, architect, and evaluate technology solutions before buying and deploying them in their own IT environment.
Intermec’s CV60 vehicle-mounted computers, IV7 vehicle-mounted RFID readers and IA33E RFID antennae are available for use in real-world RFID scenarios at Microsoft Technology Centres in Austin, Reston, Chicago, Boston, Silicon Valley and New York.
Microsoft Technology Centre Alliance senior program manager, John Mathieu, said: “Intermec worked with us to test and refine Microsoft BizTalk RFID, and was an early adopter of the platform.
In other news, Motorola has become Intermec's 24th licensee under Intermec’s RFID patents.
Intermec holds more than 154 RFID patents, covering all global RFID technology standards and classes, including EPCglobal Class 0, Class 1, Class 1 Generation 2, ISO, ETSI and others.
Motorola's license will give it access to this technology in respect of RFID tags, and fixed and portable readers
