Global Research Institute releases its first global trade and supply chain software solution for small to midsized businesses.
Today the 21st Global Research Institute (Durham, NC) released it first global trade and supply chain software solution for small to midsized businesses, those firms with revenue’s of less than US$ 50,000,000. There are two versions, one for Exporters and one for Importers.
James Huddleston, the founder of the 21st Global Research Institute has had a long and distinguished career in developing global trade and supply chain software for firms in this category. His clients have been in a variety of industries, such as retail, wholesale, catalog retailing, light manufacturing, technology, government, notforprofit organizations and the retail automotive industry.
Mr. Huddleston says the there are two major problems these sized firms face: 1) they do not have enough skilled staff in international data content to develop their own trade software and 2) the existing software solutions provided by the large software houses are very expensive to purchase or lease and the hidden cost of installation and support can be prohibitive.
The objective of releasing both the Export and Import versions at the same time is to enhance the collaborative capabilities that are built into each system. This dual release also accommodates the needs of those firms that are already involved in both exporting and importing to monitor bidirectional trade activity.
Each product shares several features, which also lowers the cost of ownership and improves the collaborative efforts of sharing data. The elements in the first release of February 12, 2002 include the following:
-
Price Quotation (Export) Quotation Analysis (Import)
-
Product Catalog
-
Trading Partner Profiles
-
Landed Cost Estimates & Analysis
-

-

-

-

These new systems have been designed to keep acquisition and maintenance cost to a minimum by using Microsoft’s Access 2000. Many firms in the small to midsized category are already using Access for inhouse data needs. This enables 21st Global Research Institute to sell its software at a fraction of the cost of larger systems and it is user installed and maintained further lowering the cost of ownership.
