Grocery retailer Migros Zurich, Biel, Switzerland, has selected speech-based technology from Princeton, N.J.-based Voxware to improve productivity in its Zurich, Switzerland, distribution facility.
Voxware's business partner, ExperTeam AG, Switzerland, has been awarded the contract with Migros Zurich for the initial Voxware VoiceLogistics implementation. ExperTeam is a professional services company that provides business logistics solutions for warehouse optimisation, distribution and integrated wireless fulfilment for the retail grocery, consumer product and institutional foodservice industries. Migros has approximately 1,000 potential VoiceLogistics users in eight large distribution centres.
As part of the contract, ExperTeam will deliver system and application software, hardware and professional services for the initial voice systems at Migros' 130,000-square-foot operation in Zurich. The solution is expected to go live this month. The implementation will be evaluated over the next 60 days before rolling it out to the other 60 potential VoiceLogistics users in the Zurich facility.
The project will initially provide a VoiceLogistics picking application in the beverage area. Migros expects to realize improved productivity and cost savings with the speech-based supply chain solution. Migros will also evaluate a voice-based yard management application that will provide more efficient traffic management and improved throughput for the Berne operation.
