The US Patent and Trademark office for their approach in designing Antenna arrays and resonators based on Fractals (A geometric pattern that is repeated at ever-smaller scales) have given a Notice of Allowance (NOA) to the innovative company Fractal Antenna Systems, Inc.
The firm’s scientists are the discoverers and development pioneers of antenna elements with fractal shapes. The intricate design allows antennas to be made without containing any moving parts and needing far less space than antennas typically used today. These geometric forms hat repeat their structure over several scales afford a boon to antenna uses in wireless, microwave, RFID, telecom, and other industries where multiple frequencies, small sizes, and high performance drivers.
The company’s CTO, Nathan Cohen, started exploring the possibilities of using fractals as a base for antenna elements as far back as 1988 culminating with studies being done across the world by well over 400 researchers.
Fractal Antenna Systems, Inc hold several more US patents as well as a number of foreign patents pending within the field of fractal antenna technology that place it at the leading edge of this market. With reference to its potential competitors Cohen stated “corroboration and attribution are the hallmarks of science and we welcome efforts by independent researchers to affirm what we’ve known for some time.”
