In an ongoing drive to enhance customer service, Schwan's Sales Enterprises Inc. of Marshall, Minn., a leading international distributor of fine frozen foods, has selected Intermec Technologies Corp. to provide mobile computers and portable printers. This technology upgrade will enhance Schwan’s Home Service route manager’s ability to service millions of customers across the U.S.
Schwan's delivery personnel will use wireless Intermec® 720 mobile computers and 781T portable printers to access customer data, record orders and provide customer receipts. Schwan’s operates the world’s largest privately owned truck fleet. Its route sales drivers log enough miles to circle the world 25 times each day.

The recently introduced Intermec® 720 industrial mobile computer is a highly rugged, wireless handheld device built to withstand the harsh elements and temperature extremes Schwan's drivers endure. “Every day our route managers are out there in the hottest, wettest and coldest weather there is in the United States,” Ruud said.
With the Bluetooth™ wirelessly-enabled Intermec 781T portable printer, Schwan's route reps can print receipts on the spot, without having to run back to the truck. The 781T can be clipped to a belt, and offers downloadable fonts, serial RS-232, and 4MB of programmable flash memory for added performance and flexibility.
