As of April 7, 2003, Citigroup's global corporate and investment bank will be known broadly as Citigroup. To differentiate the corporate and institutional businesses from the parent company, we will refer to specific divisions, such as Global Equities or Global Fixed Income. The Nikko Salomon Smith Barney joint venture in Japan has been re-branded Nikko Citigroup and Schroder Salomon Smith Barney has converted to Citigroup. Salomon Smith Barney legal entities around the world have been renamed Citigroup Global Markets.
At the same time, Citigroup's Private Client and Global Equity Research groups have completed their re-branding and are now known as Smith Barney. Additionally, the equity research product will bear the dual brands of the Smith Barney business unit and the Citigroup parent company.
The Salomon Brothers brand will remain active within Citigroup Asset Management, which will retain the brand for funds in its third party distribution channel and its proprietary retail channel.
