Postwatch wants Royal Mail to return to being a successful and profitable Organisation to secure its future. To achieve this Postwatch understands the need for management to review all its options. Postwatch therefore supports the trials that Royal Mail has announced today for 14 delivery offices.
Peter Carr, commenting on Royal Mail’s announcement said, “It is quite right for Royal Mail to examine every option to improve its profitability. There can be no sacred cows. So many costs are linked to providing daily deliveries that it is the obvious area to look at. The trials have been agreed with Postwatch and provide the opportunity to influence the final decision.
“Royal Mail will want to know what customers think of the proposals before proceeding to implementation.
“Postwatch will monitor the trials in the 14 pilot areas on behalf of customers. A telephone survey pre-trial has already been completed. Further surveys will be conducted during and after the trials.
“In addition to the telephone surveys Postwatch is also organising a series of focus groups to assess customer reaction. The results of this work will be published on the Postwatch website”.
