VoEx International LLC, a leading provider of worldwide Voice over IP telephony and network services, announced today that it has signed an agreement with GlobalNet Corporation (OTCBB: GLBT - News) to distribute satellite mobile phones and SIM cards powered by Globalstar network. Marketing will commence this month, beginning initially in Iraq and expanding afterward throughout the Middle East and Northern Africa.
The partnership between VoEx and GlobalNet-Globalstar will result in the immediate delivery of high-quality, economical handheld mobile telecommunications to the general population of Iraq. VoEx will market the advanced GSM/SAT handsets and related options under the brand name “SHEHAB” and will distribute through a network of shops and kiosks situated throughout Iraq. For the time being, all calls will be made on a pre-paid basis because of the general fiscal disarray of the region. Additional payment options may be made available in the future as the country continues to grow in economic strength.
Services and accessories offered by VoEx and GlobalNet contain unconditional guarantees for quality and clarity far superior to anything on the market. In addition, efficiencies exist within GlobalNet’s satellite transmission network that allow for drastically reduced usage rates. While competitors charge as much as US$ 4.00 per minute, services promoted by VoEx will begin at US$ 0.50 per minute.
Also unlike many other methods of communication in Iraq, callers using GlobalNet's network do not need to rely on a cumbersome computer modem or talk into a special microphone attached to their desktop in order to participate in a phone call. Hardware and equipment sold by VoEx will make placing a call as simple as using a cell phone.
Haydar Haba, Chief Executive Officer of VoEx International LLC and Voex Inc., stated, “We are extremely excited about this partnership. It provides GlobalNet with a means of further distribution and exposure for their product, while advancing VoEx’s position as a premiere provider of worldwide telecommunications services. We look forward to what we feel will be a truly valuable endeavor, not only for both companies involved, but for the Iraqi people, as well.” For the past fourteen years, Mr. Haba has been among the top telecom engineers and innovators of Telecom and VoIP technology, helping to deliver advanced communications services to many third world countries.
“Throughout the year 2003, we have been working very diligently to fill the gap created by the lack of a communications infrastructure in Iraq and to lessen the effects of Iraq’s digital divide,” added Asaad Y. Alnajjar, Chief Strategy Officer of VoEx International LLC and Voex Inc. “We are trying very hard to serve the needs of the Iraqi people. Once there are clear regulations in place, VoEx will promptly deliver many advanced technologies and services that will distinguish Iraq as the technology leader of the Arab world.” Mr. Alnajjar is among the most active businessmen in Iraq and has been especially involved over the past three years in issues related to the Iraqi GSM industry and MENA communications private sector. He is one of the top telecom innovators in the Middle East.
In related news, VoEx International LLC, under a sub-agreement signed last month with Orascom Telecom Iraq (OTI), will soon offer “Iraqna” prepaid GSM services, handsets and SIM cards to the public in central Iraq.
