Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERICY) has been chosen to provide 3 Italia's customers with Ericsson Mobile Organizer (EMO), a hosted enterprise solution for mobile e-mail and Personal Information Management (PIM). With this offering, 3 Italia, part of the Hutchison Whampoa Group, is breaking new ground for mobile data services in Italy.
Ericsson's hosted enterprise solution allows 3 Italia to offer end-users access to both corporate and private e-mail, as well as other personal information management data, while on the move. The service will be branded as Mail³.
Cesare Avenia, President, Ericsson Italy, says: "Providing EMO in Italy is considered one of the many successes Ericsson has achieved throughout its partnership with 3 Italia. We are pleased to provide a solution that meets the customers' growing needs."
Vincenzo Novari, Chief Executive Officer, 3 Italia, says: "3 is proud to offer EMO to its customers, allowing users to gain full control over their office e-mail software by just using their mobile phones. Hosting is a fast, simple and cost-efficient manner for us to launch services such as EMO to enterprises."
Hosted EMO offers simplicity, openness, security and low total cost of ownership. The solution supports a wide range of terminals, and e-mail attachments can be downloaded, read and edited by the user. Installation and maintenance are designed to be as simple and straightforward as possible.
The five-year managed services hosting contract puts Ericsson in charge of hosting, integration and day-to-day management of the service. 3 Italia will be able focus on their core business, sales, marketing and customer related issues.
Hosting is a part of Ericsson's managed services offering. The global trend towards managed services is accelerating as operators and vendors work in partnership to reduce costs and bring new services to market as quickly as possible.
