Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) receives Frost & Sullivan award for best Product Line Strategy Leadership in the European enterprise telephony market. The award is presented each year to a company that demonstrates the most insight into customer needs and product demands. This year the award is presented to Ericsson in recognition of the success with MD110, MX-ONE and the Mobility Gateway.
The Frost & Sullivan award (http://www.frost.com/) demonstrates that Ericsson has insight into customer needs and product demands. Ericsson has optimised its product line by leveraging products with the various price, performance and feature points required by the market. In addition, Ericsson is recognized for a mobility offering that stands far superior compared to competition.
Urban Gillström, head of Ericsson's business unit Enterprise, says: "This award shows that we are good at listening to our customers and to understand and develop solutions to fit their needs, which is increasingly important the more complex the business is."
The enterprise telephony market is undergoing some fundamental transitions. Adoption of IP telephony and mobility has led the traditional vendors to re-align their products to market expectations. The award states that Ericsson was one of the first companies in the market to migrate to a pure-IP based platform, with a unique proposition in integrated mobility during 2004, while many of its competitors continued offering TDM solutions and IP solutions without mobility. Customers with MD110 and earlier versions are offered a smooth migration path to IP telephony with the possibility to re-use investments made.
The Frost & Sullivan award demonstrates that Ericsson is the leader in the competitive market of enterprise telephony and that Ericsson is one of the early adopters of converged architectures, the products enables integration of core business applications and mobility with communication systems which facilitates corporate communication.
