05-10-2004

As one of the UK’s leading retailers, The John Lewis Partnership strives to provide its customers with the most enjoyable shopping experience possible through a high standard of quality and service.   Nationwide, the company has 26 department stores and 159 Waitrose food stores and employs over 60,000 partners.  To achieve its remarkable success The John Lewis Partnership depends on providing innovative approaches to enhance the shopping experience for its customers.

For a number of years, John Lewis Partnership has worked with BemroseBooth to develop solutions that ensure successful value transactions in the areas of gift & incentive vouchers and garment identification & tracking.

New Gift Vouchers Offer Unparalleled Choice

In June, John Lewis Partnership launched a newly redesigned web- enabled gift voucher that gave customers the ability to spend the vouchers at John Lewis department stores, Waitrose supermarkets and online at johnlewis.com.  With this added online option, recipients can shop at John Lewis any time, day or night.  BemroseBooth assisted John Lewis in designing the new vouchers and incorporating numerous security features allowing secure online redemption.  The new vouchers are produced at BemroseBooth’s Derby secure print facility and distributed to John Lewis locations on demand.  Later this year these vouchers will also be used to reward customers who have taken out the recently launched John Lewis Partnership Card.

Vicky Lovell, head of John Lewis’s voucher programme, commented, “we have been very impressed with the dedication which BemroseBooth have shown towards working with us to develop our new ground-breaking Gift Voucher solution. We are very excited about the new product, and feel that a paper voucher with online functionality will allow us to further enhance our position in the Gift Voucher marketplace. BemroseBooth have been an ideal partner, working with us to ensure the success of this new functionality”.

Garment Identification & Tracking Contract Renewed

BemroseBooth’s Secure Logistics division has been supplying John Lewis with garment identification labels and pricing tickets for several years.  Recently, John Lewis renewed its contract with BemroseBooth.  It is critical that the labels and tickets are produced and distributed to John Lewis’s vendors in a timely fashion.  BemroseBooth has streamlined its manufacturing process to offer a solution whereby orders are received, the products manufactured and dispatched within 24 hours from a dedicated bureau.  BemroseBooth guarantees delivery up to 96 hours from dispatch to anywhere in the world.    John Lewis is also utilizing a web-based portal developed by BemroseBooth to manage the ordering, inventory, tracking and invoicing of the identification labels and pricing tickets.

Helen Jones, John Lewis Project Manager Supply Chain, commented, "Recent negotiations with Bemrose Booth have been very productive and improved the service to our business.  They have been particularly conscientious in the setting up of the website which gives John Lewis excellent visibility and tracking capabilities of our barcode tickets worldwide.  The two companies have forged an excellent relationship working together to increase efficiencies and decrease costs"
